RE: White curl grubs Posted 707 days ago Hiya Aussieray, I think Confidor for lawn grub/beetle is the least toxic spray. It's a green hose on spray. They also come to the surface when they feel/hear rain because they think they're going to be drowned which is why you can test for them by flooding the soil or lawn. It's also why Magpies tap the surface of a lawn - they're pretending they're a raindrop! Whether or not you could control their numbers in this way if you're trying to be organic? I don't know, but i'd be interested to know if any other gardeners would know or if there is a better/easier way of controlling numbers? |

RE: White curl grubs Posted 703 days ago If you've got some space between the plants, try giving the soil a good soak with detergent water then lay down wet newspaper ( thick enough to stay damp overnight ). In the morning, with any luck, you'll have a nice crop of grubs ready to harvest. Haven't tried this personally 'cause I've never had a big problem with it, but the bloke who told me ( many moons ago ) reckoned it worked. Hope this helps a bit. |
