Concrete Compost

Posted 168 days ago

I have just moved into a new house and there is a beautiful BIG Pecan tree in the back yard. I have just spent all day raking up the leaves and am at a loss with where to put them, all I have in the back yard is lawn and a concrete slab.

I was wondering if it matters if I start a compost heap on the concrete, or if the heat and damp would cause it to crumble, and if the result would be good or bad for my garden?

PS I dont care about the concrete, just the garden.

The leaves won't be able to be reached by all the tiny critters that live in the soil if they are lying on cement. Those critters are what decomposes our garden litter into compost over a period of time.
