What do the leaves look like? It they are brown at the tips or yellowing you could be over-watering the plant. Is it in the ground or in a pot? If it is in a pot only water it when the top 3cm is dry. (Just stick your finger in it yp to the first joint, and if it feels wet and sticks to your finger, don't water it)

Premature bud drop can also mean over fertilizing. If you can tell me what the situation is, i.e in a pot, hanging pot, how often you water it etc. and when you fed it last it could help.

Good luck!

Thanks for your suggestions. The fuschia is in a large pot on a verandah facing north-east. Over-feeding could be the problem, as well as over-watering.
The leaf situation seems to have improved. They were dry-looking and almost a bit rusty.
