Ceanothus - yellowing leaves

I've planted 2 Ceanothus - Blue Pacific that were a bright green but just lately the lower leaves have turned a yellow colour with dark spots. I'm on the Granite Belt with reasonable well drained soil and the plants were watered in with seaweed extract. I've read conflicting reports that Ceanothus like/don't like a lot of water. Any help appreciated.
