Posted 613 days ago

Is it possible to grow an agave indoors in a very warm, light room in Melbourne, Victoria? Thanks

Agave attenuata are very hardy plants and can be grown indoors or outdoors, and should do well in Melbourne. The one thing they do not like is swampy conditions, they will develop 'sores' on the foliage which will eventually go mushy. Agaves will survive almost unattended outdoors in the right soil or with some love in poor soil. Frost hardy from what I have observed. You may find that if grown in pots Agave attenuata have a tendency to 'stem' faster, grown out of pots they will stay lower to the ground for a longer time.
