Fig tree with no leaves?

Posted 750 days ago

Hi, I have a fig tree with little or no leaves!
It's in full sun, watered every two to tree days has pea staw around it and feed it seasol once a month, it's not dead yet. I've had it two years and it gave fruit last year which I took of so the tree would get stronger!
Please help.
Thanks

Hi Autty. I don't know anything much about figs per se., but generally speaking it might just need a bit of a feed. Seasol isn't an actual fertiliser used by itself. Watering that often could be a bit much. Try a good deep watering once a week, and make sure the water is getting past the mulch by actually moving the mulch back and replacing it after you've watered. Basically, the problem could be too much or not enough water, and or it's feeling a bit peckish. Also, it's worth checking if water is actually wetting the soil deeper down. If not, a few drops of dishwashing detergent in a watering-can full applied before the serious hosing will help there. Hope this helps. Let's know how it goes.
