RE: growing potatoes in bags Posted 593 days ago imharau, maybe i can help, i purchased some potato growing bags from a cheap stuff shop, cut 2 seed potatoes in half, let them dry in the air for about a week.while they were i put some good grade potting mix in bottom of bag about 15 cms+home made compost+straw + blood and bone,.placed the potatoes on top and repeated the mixture again after about 10 days they peeped through and i put another 15cm of same on top, just kept doing that all the way up after 4-5 weeks they have reached the top..about70 cmso there is no more room for soil so relax and let them grow their beautiful tops and then flowers when they have died down to nothing tip the bag over on the lawn or vege garden and find beautiful spuds...they take a while but worth waiting for.hope this helps |
