Agonis Flexuosa "Afterdark" scam Posted 745 days ago I had bought the dark leaved version of the hardy agonis flexuosa as a speciman plant for the backyard. After having it in the ground for six months and watering it regularlly it hardly grew at all and a few really hot days knocked it around that badly it never recovered and I threw it away.
For a plant that is both advertised so much, and available at just about any nursery I found this plant to be very soft, and the tag left me ill advised of the required growing conditions. I have planted the parent plant and that has taken off really well. I recently found out that the after dark plant is a one-off defect of the original agnonis in cultivation and has been propagated profusely from this one parent.
Has anyone actually had success with this plant? (i.e above 3 metres with a decent canopy). And not just from regions in WA. If so send in a picture so i can actaully believe this plant is not some scam on the market.
Also i would like to hear from people that have had the same thing happen to them. _________ Wanna share info! |

RE: Agonis Flexuosa "Afterdark" scam Posted 741 days ago For a plant that is so heavily promoted it is very finicky.
I forgot to mention that after the inital failiures of ground planting i switched to pot culture (a good tactic when a plant in the ground just is not working and you don't want to part with the said plant), yet it still did nothing and i gave up on it.
If you want a purple leaved plant stick with the tried and true Prunis cerisifera nigra (flowering plum) _________ Wanna share info! |
