Lilly Pilly,Black fungus

Posted 2322 days ago

I have noticed my lilly pilly has a black powdery substance covering it's branches and trunk,(it's a standard), while the leaves have a gooey substance dripping off them with tiny black spots on the leaves, new leaves are growing but old leaves are browning and dying off. I have treated this plant for scale in the past. Can anyone please help me fix this problem.

I think I have found 1 answer to my question. Sooty Mould. Has any one heard of it? If so, how do I treat it?

Sooty mould is a sign of insects such as aphids, scale or mealybugs at work.
Spraying with either PestOil or Eco-Oil (which are organically OK) will get rid of them. They just smother the insects. But make sure you coat the plant thoroughly, wetting both sides of the leaves and all the stems, too. Repeat the application 10 days later on, to get the next generation as well.
