need a suggestion Posted 732 days ago hi, hoping someone will be able to suggest a plant for a newbe gardener on NSW north coast (sub-tropic). I'm looking for a plant that can provide privacy. I needs to be about 1.5 to 2m high, bushy and can stand only minimal sun as it must grow under a rainforest canopy. Any help much appreciated. |

RE: need a suggestion Posted 731 days ago Hello Pete - Most plants under the canopy will want to reach for the sunlight and so will be inclined to get tall and leggy, rather than bushy - you could try a Lilly Pilly, if they get enough sunlight around their base, say if they were planted on the perimeter, they will form laterals. You might like to try different gingers, I have a variety that is low and bushy and combined with taller ones might serve the purpose. Drive around somewhere in your area and see what plants are growing in a remnant rainforest situation and try to copy the same effect if you see something that you like. |
