transplanting citrus

Posted 735 days ago

Hello, we planted a lemon, orange and mandarin tree about 12 months ago and now find we need to move them(due to a revamp of our garden plan).

Does any one know if they can be transplanted. I assume this should be done in later autumn but any advice would be appreciated.

thanks

Mike

Transplant around June/July. Take as big a root ball as you can. Have the new planting site dug and ready. Transfer the tree to the new place. Water well and give it some Seasol for the transplant shock. Do not fertilise until you see new leaves forming.

We just moved into a new house and they had 3 citrus trees planted in the vege garden - hence we didnt want them there but didnt want to cut them down. we shifted them a few months ago (against the advice from a garden centre - they said to wait till June/July) all have gone well so far, they silk for a few weeks. We gave them plenty of seasol in the first few weeks.
