New to Gardening, Help Needed

Posted 720 days ago

I wonder if anyone can help. I live near the coast in Brisbane and was wondering if anyone could suggest plants for my garden. We moved in about 4 months ago and the rear garden is just grass with a bottle brush tree in the far right corner. I have a 2 story house about 3 metres from the rear fence line and just hurricane fencing to the rear and right of the garden. The garden is approx 18metres wide by 14 metres long. I like something to 'blur out' the two story building and to offer a bit of privacy alround, i like the idea of planting some natives but i've got an empty canvas and don't know where to start. The garden is east facing and get full sun nearly all day. hope someone has some ideas. Thanks

You could plant some Hardenbergia violacea along the hurricane fencing. They should quickly climb up it and cover it. For a list of good native trees that grow well in your area why not contact your local council for their list of recommended street trees? That would be a good starting point, then at least you would know their names and be able to google some more info on them.
