Bromelias

Posted 706 days ago

we have been growing Bromelias in our garden in bundaberg for nearly 18 months with great results but since our heavy rain over the past month and a half we have noticed that nearly all our plants have started to die and rot. Before the wet the garden was only watered about once a week so was relatively dry. Could someone please advise if the wet has caused this or if it could be something else. We also added a mild fertilizer which was well watered in some weeks before the rain. All advise much appriciated

Bromelias need good drainage. Are yours in soil or pots?
Use potting mix and medium bark mixture. only water in centre of plant {In the well} i have been told by a specialist grower that you can keep them alive without soil /mix, by wrapping roots in newspaper that is kept damp. these can be arranged in bare basket for display.
