Flower advice Posted 541 days ago Hello all, I'm wanting to start planting some flowers in my front yard. I would like to know what types are the best for this area. I live in Altona North, Vic. The garden gets about 3 hour of sun a day. I'd like colour all year round, and am wondering if tulips, daffodils and freesias would suit as spring flowers. |

RE: Flower advice Posted 535 days ago Thanks Susan. We ended up paying a visit to Bunnings, where we caught on to the news we'd missed the boat for daffodils etc. Doh! Should've thought of that!! We got gladioli, lilium LA hybrid and gypsophila which we'll mix with some other plants and shrubs we've already got/acquired from neighbours. Wish us luck! |

RE: Flower advice Posted 533 days ago Hi Clueless, Most bulbs including gladioli and lilium grow and flower best in full sun, so find the sunniest spot for yours. There are bulbs/tubers that will grow in shade (or partial shade in cool climates) such as Solomons Seal, and Scilla. Google shade loving plants for ideas, or check out the plants and growing guides on the online nurseries. |
