Mealy Bug

Posted 701 days ago

I have a lovely palm, in a large pot - indoors. Unfortunately it suddenly has Mealy Bug. I am trying to get rid of this by wiping with Metho on a rag but find it dfficult to get it all.
Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Hi Maria,
I used to work at a large Palm Nursery & we occasionally found Mealy Bugs in our Palms. They're annoying little buggers that make the plant look untidy & like to live in the folds of leaves & on the trunk. They will slowly suck the life out of your plant - VERY slowly, so there is time to treat it. I used to use a cheap green scourer & plain water to lift the bugs off. You can try White Oil spray(bought cheaply from Cheap as Chips/Reject Shop)concentrating on the area where the branch comes out from the trunk.
Good Luck!!

Micky
