Help with Camellia Posted 717 days ago I live in the Adelaide area and have two camellia sasanqua "Paradise Diana" plants I bought about 2 months ago that are both suffering from very dried leaved that are dropping off. They are planted in different area of my yard. One is in the ground next to a carport and quite shaded. The other was originally planted in the ground near some hydrangeas under a shaded pergola, but was recently moved into a large pot in the same area containing Camellia potting mix after all the leaves dropped. It is not showing any signs of new growth. Any ideas? |

RE: Help with Camellia Posted 716 days ago I'm no camellia expert but it sounds as though yours have been through a lot since you bought them. Transplanting can be traumatic for plants specially if done in the heat and I know Adelaide has been suffering it's fair share of hot weather recently. |

RE: Help with Camellia Posted 705 days ago sasanquas are grown in the SUN while camellia japonica in morning sun or filtered / dappled light. All MUST be grown in acid soil or as you have done, in a specific potting mix and they DETEST dryness......i.e.KEEP MOIST.If in pots then good drainage IS ESSENTIAL!! Try not to dig around root zone and mulch with cow manure and peet. |
