why can't I grow roses?!

Posted 773 days ago

Hi. This is my first time posting...I have bought 3 hardy roses that the specialist rose nursery assured me I couldn't kill! They flowered and thrived initially, but now the leaves are curling in and are brown and spotty. I can't see any visible pests though I did spray them once when I noticed aphids. The whole street has blooms abounding...but not me!!
help please
Glynis

Hi glynistudor. I'm not too big on roses, but I think that's a type of fungusy thing which is treatable with (I think) a Copper-based spray. Take a sample of the leaves to your nursery for a real diagnosis, and I'm sure that if you asked along the street, you'll get all the advice you can handle. Take an egg-timer along, 'cause once you get a rose-person started....

Glynis,it could be black spot,if it is remove affected leaves from bushes and off the ground, and put them in the bin. When you spray with Rose spray, make sure you spray the ground underneath as the spores remain there and will re-infect.
