Sick Triangle Palm

Posted 1405 days ago

We have 2 triangle palms approx 2.4mtrs tall both planted at the same time, in the same garden and purchased from the same place. One is healthy and beautiful, the other is sick ie. very dark green opposed to grey/green, leaves never straighten and even trunk is a darker colour. Any help or related info on triangle palms would be much appreciated.

Tough isn't it? I have had the same types of problems with the same like plants in the same like area but growth is totally different.

Even though the palms are in the same garden one could be getting more water/nutrients than the other. New palms need a couple of years of regular water and a free draining composted soil with mulch added to keep them on the damp side. They don't like to dry out when young. A good all purpose fertiliser could help too. Ask your nursery man for a recommended fert.

Sick Alex Palm

Posted 698 days ago

I have just planted a 10ft Alex Palm 1 maybe 2 weeks ago and it looks like it's getting sick. Leaves are Brown, but not under watered, branches are yellow. I used Sheep manure under it, could this cause the problem or is it something else. Please Help, I don't want it to die!
