Climber for hot Nth facing wall Posted 695 days ago In Adelaide, have a north facing brick wall (20m long x 2.5m high) painted cream in backyard , which obviously puts out a lot of heat. Wanting to cool it down with a climber. Tried Mandevilla (crimson fantasy), but they got cooked. Thinking of either painting wall with non-reflective colour or covering with bamboo screening. Any suggestions on fixing wall or type of climber welcomed. |

RE: Climber for hot Nth facing wall Posted 681 days ago I also have a north facing masonry wall and have great success with espaliered trees - olive, lime and lemon. It is a wonderful site for trees as they have access to winter sun and a little shelter when the sun is further south in the summer. Would that suit you instead of a climber? Previously my neighbour had a pyrostegia or orange trumpet vine which is glorious when in flower but too invasive so I was happy when they pulled it out. |
