Growing native seeds and cuttings

Posted 451 days ago

Hi all, I wanted to sow some seeds and take some cutting from my native trees and plants, as it is winter now would I be able to put them into a hot house to grow or would it be too cold even in a hot house, the seeds will be she-oaks and the cuttings will be bottle brush... We are just outside Geelong, Vic...
Any info would be good..

Hi blackzebra,
I'm from Hervey Bay, Q & I feel it is too cold here to strike most plants but I don't have a hot house. What Im trying to say is give it a go! All you need is enough warmth (I think) to get roots growing. Theres no harm in trying. If you don't have many seeds it would be better to wait till spring to sow them because your chances are better then.
Good luck

Hi blackzebra I grow native seedlings and cuttings all year round in a unheated glass house in Tassie. So give it a go
They will take konger in colder areas but will give you a head start by springtime
