People & Places
The final episode of the second series of 'The Block' will be seen on Sunday, July 25. The four couples started work on a derelict building without floors, ceilings or walls. In just 101 days, they transformed it into one of the most desirable apartment blocks in Manly.
The viewers have warmed to one couple in particular, Matt and Jane Martino from Melbourne. Jane and Matt actually got married while The Block was being filmed. Matt said that dealing with all the different personalities was the hardest thing about 'The Block' - even harder than the renovation itself.
During the filming, Matt took up painting and held a very successful exhibition of his artworks. Thirteen paintings were exhibited and nine sold out on the night. Examples of his work can be seen at his bar, the Lionel Bar in St Kilda.
Jane has published a series of six books that say 'thank you'. Each is aimed at a family member or loved one and features black and white photography combined with inspirational messages.
Matt and Jane are currently renovating their St Kilda apartment. While they don't have a garden of their own at the moment, there is a fine pittosporum hedge along the side of their apartment building. They told Don that their ambition is to start a family and eventually have a house with a backyard.
See Matt & Jane on The BLOCK - Auction Special, this Sunday, July 25th at 6.30pm on Channel Nine.
