Lemon Lime Cleanser: The French Alternative

Lemon juice has been used for centuries to help keep skin looking good, and lemon oil is an excellent stain remover. In this simple recipe Jackie French combines the cleaning properties of lemons and limes with Sorbolene cream and chamomile. The result is a homemade cleanser which smells great, softens hard skin and removes ingrained dirt from hands and feet.

Ingredients

  • 6 lemons or limes (or some of each)
  • juice of 3 lemons
  • Sorbolene cream
  • 2 chamomile teabags (optional)

Method

Peel the lemons and limes with as little white as possible. Put the rind in a saucepan and add the lemon juice. If your skin is chapped, include the contents of the chamomile teabags as well. Now cover the peel with water, simmer for half an hour, then allow to cool. (Only add more water if it’s going to boil dry.) Pour the fragrant oily juice into a jar, add an equal amount of Sorbolene cream and shake until mixed. Rub into hands, feet, knees or elbows, then wash or wipe off.
