Cockroaches in Snot: The French Alternative

Don't worry it's only bath gel - very special bath gel though, designed by Jackie French to trick kids into actually enjoying bath time! One of the great things about this recipe is that the ingredients are all common household products, so you won't have to go hunting around for them. It doesn't have to be cockroaches either - you can modify the recipe to suit your own particular needs, for example you could use yellow shampoo and a plastic cow for Cow in Custard, or green shampoo and a frog, for Frog in Slime! Scented oils are an optional extra too, the hope is that something like lavender and chamomile will help children relax so they'll actually feel like going to bed!

Cockroaches in snot

  • 1 cup of shampoo
  • 1/2 cup very hot water
  • 1 teaspoon scented oil
  • 3 tablespoons gelatine
  • 1 handful of plastic cockroaches

Method

Add the hot water to the gelatine, mix well. Add the shampoo, and then the scented oil. Pour into a jar, add the cockroaches and leave to set. (Tip: wait a few days for the bubbles to clear, then the cockroaches will be fully visible.)
