Cosmos ‘Bright Eyes’
Cosmos ‘Bright Eyes’ is a beautiful summer annual in the Yates packet seed range. The semi-double flowers are all in warm colours, from scarlet through to orange and yellow. The seeds can be started in trays of seed raising mix or sown directly into the garden, and they will grow in all areas of Australia. Grows best in full sun in a well drained position.
There are two good reasons to think about planting ‘Bright Eyes’ – not only will you have masses of cheerful flowers in the garden, but also 40c from the purchase price of every packet of seeds sold will go to Retina Australia to fund research and help support people suffering from Retinitis Pigmentosa. One in 3000 babies is born with Retinitis Pigmentosa, a hereditary disease that attacks the retina, or light-sensitive portion of the eye. There is no cure for the disease which causes progressive loss of vision and total blindness in many cases. Funds for research are desperately needed.
Further information
Cosmos ‘Bright Eyes’ cost $2.47 per packet from nurseries and garden centres. The purchase of Owl badges (available at participating optometrists for $2) will also help fund research into Retinitis Pigmentosa.
