Don visited Akihabara, Tokyo's 'Electric City'. Akihabara is the electronics district, where the latest hi-tech gizmos and gadgets can be tried and tested for free. There are hundreds of shops, ranging from tiny specialist stores to large electrical department stores. Don was amazed by all the video games, televisions, personal computers, software and digital cameras.

Generally, electronics are expensive in Tokyo, so it's a good idea to find out the retail prices of the items you are interested in before going to Akihabara for discounted prices. While not as cheap as Singapore or Hong Kong, electronic products are well worth buying in Japan when you consider the cost of the item and its availability in Australia. (Tip: check that you are buying equipment that is compatible with voltage and systems back home.)
