Home Among Gumtrees > Around the House
Whatever your style, it's important to make the entrance to your home interesting and inviting. Even a simple vase of flowers can make a tremendous difference. Tara Dennis showed how to dress up a bland, boring entrance hall.
Design ideas For maximum impact, scale it up and go big and bold. Minimise clutter to create a strong first impression. Add a console table. Small spaces won't feel crowded if you choose a table with long, slender legs. If the hall is small and dark, add a mirror, lamps and soft lighting. Use wallpaper or paint in vertical stripes to create an illusion of height. Add interest by painting a feature colour on one wall. Match décor throughout the house for a seamless blend. Transform the hallway into a gallery by hanging lots of artwork. Throw down a floor runner to add softness and warmth. Add a beautiful Kentia palm (Howea forsteriana) for permanent indoor greenery. Place fresh flowers on a table to add colour and life.
