After all his handyman chores are done, Scott Cam loves to relax in front of the TV watching the footy. If you’re spending all your weekends doing jobs around the house, Scotty has a few shortcuts to save you time and make your life easier.

Repairing a rusty gutter

A cheap and easy alternative to full gutter replacement is to patch up the holes. Simply clean up the rusty areas with a wire brush, paint them with anti rust, then patch with self adhesive flashing tape or a bitumen-based product such as Demcourse.

Painting tip

Rather than trudging up and down a ladder, hire some sort of simple scaffold. You could mount a piece of board between two milk crates, or use a plank and two hired A-frames, as seen in our segment.
