A new product available in some states and coming available Australia wide is a drip-proof tap washer called a ‘Doustvalve’. The West Australian development has a nylon base and spindle with a rubberised material inside which is burst-resistant. The result is a ‘soft touch’ turn off and on tap and a long lasting washer with no more drips. The washer is designed to fit any hot or cold tap.

Installation

Turn the water off at the water meter
Take the top of the tap off with a spanner
Remove the old washer
Insert the new ‘Doustvalve’ into the top of the tap
Replace the top of the tap and screw it back together
Make sure the tap is turned off before turning the water back on at the water meter
When the water is back on, check that the tap turns on and off with ease and that there is no wasted water from excess dripping
