A new subtropical grevillea variety has just become available. It is a hybrid between Grevillea ‘Honey Gem’ and the species Grevillea formosa. It is called Grevillea ‘Golden Lyre’.

Of its parents, ‘Honey Gem’ is one of the ‘Burke’s Backyard’ recommended grevilleas as it flowers over a long period and is particularly attractive to birds, while the species G. formosa has long and very attractive green toothbrush flowers which turn to golden yellow with age. It is native to the Northern Territory where it grows as a dense ground cover in Arnhem Land.
