Common name: Dwarf liriope

Botanic name: Liriope ‘Arizona’

Description: Compact plant growing to 30cm (12″) tall and 30cm (12″) wide. It has dark green foliage and lilac-pink flowers, which form a ring around the plant.

Best climate: ‘Arizona’ will grow in all areas of Australia.

Good points:

attractive, grassy plant foliage has a sharp, architectural feel mauve-pink flowers a great low maintenance plant

Downside:

‘Arizona’ forms a clump with a tuft of leaves. It is not able to be readily divided up like other mondo grasses. Plants are grown from tissue cultured stock.

Care:

This plant will grow in full sun to part shade, and in all soil types.

Getting started:

‘Arizona’ is available at nurseries and garden centres. Expect to pay $8.50 for a 140mm (6″) pot.
