Other Comments:
I wish to know if ‘Blue Arrow’ conifers can be kept to the right height – say 4 meters, by cutting the tops when they reach that height. Assuming this is something that can be done, will the plant broaden as a consequence? Also, will the plant require regular trimming of its height to keep it at 4 meters? Is it susceptible to diseases? Will the root system cause damage to the brick fence or patio that adjoin the planting space?

Can you suggest alternatives if our ‘choice’ is deemed inappropriate. Please keep in mind that we do not wish to have to regularly trim a fast growing hedge.

Answer: Do not try ‘Blue Arrows’ they are not suited to Sydney’s climate and will prove unreliable. If you want a conifer, try the ‘Spartan’ juniper – but you will need to trim their tops at 4 metres. Don
