I have seen that lining treaded pine with plastic is the recommended way to plant veggies in the CCA treated pine raised garden beds. I am wondering what type of plastic film should I use to line the treated pine ? I was told that builders plastic film is UV unstable and it will eventually breakdown and release toxic chemicals. Therefore, please recommend me a plastic film suitable for this?

Answer: Hi Nadika, There is no scientific evidence that CCA timber is dangerous for growing Organic, safe food. Nonetheless, you can very safely use builder’s plastic to line it if you wish. It usually takes several years before it becomes brittle, but even then it is quite safe to use.  Don.
