Hi – just keen to get your thoughts here. I am very excited to see how this plant grows but I think it might be flowering – but without the flower. The red leaves (which fell away to the sides) were replaced by longer green ones which I think will open, but I cant see how the traditional waratah plant will come out of this?
Answer: Hi Jonny, the red bits are floral bracts which are actually specialised leaves that usually surround the flowers. This young plant has changed its mind and committed to growth instead of flowering. Nothing to worry about. Don
