Don’s Tips: Using Hoses for Weird Things

Using Hoses for Weird Things

The humble garden hose has a thousand uses.

For instance, if you want to set out curves in your garden beds or lawn areas, bend your hose to establish smooth even curves.  Then use a sharp spade to carefully cut the lawn edge to the new shape.  Hoses naturally form themselves into very appealing curves.

This is excellent for establishing new edges when the lawn becomes bare in shady corners of the lawn.

Or you can cut an old piece of garden hose down one side and then slide the cut hose over sharp edges of weldmesh to create a safe edge that won’t cut people.

I also tie rope through hose pieces to provide a soft non-damaging surface when I tie or stake up plants.
