Bottles repel dogs – or do they?

Many people will insist that placing plastic soft drink bottles filled with water on the lawn will prevent dogs defecating on the lawn.
This is utter nonsense – in fact one university did research on this and proved that it was just an urban myth. It does not work.
Another myth is that fertilising sick plants will help them recover. This is not true. Sick plants are often very dry due to a potting mix or soil that repels water. Adding fertiliser makes things worse as it burns roots in dry soils.
Use a soil wetting agent instead.
