Long Hot Summer

This has been a long hot summer – with really savage weather in so many areas. Blistering heat, flooding rains at times and bushfires in every state.

Even where there were no fires, plants are burnt and damaged. This was a dreadful time.

What can you do? Well keep watering plants to minimize more damage, but really all that you can do is wait ‘til autumn.

In autumn you need to mulch with lucerne hay, pea straw or composted pine bark. You need to use seaweed treatments and wetting agents and lots and lots of water.

Try to bed plants down for winter as gently as you can. It will take 5 years or so for many plants to fully recover from the dreadful weather.

Many may die as their reserves are gone.
