Grevillea Garden Update

Grevillea 'Little Miss Muffet' is in full flower at the moment in the grevillea garden. It is a hybrid between G. sericea and G. speciosa, and has very pretty pink spider-like flower clusters.

Some of the grevilleas that were pruned by Don late last year are doing very well, including 'Golden Lyre'. Grevillea 'Golden Lyre' grows to about 3m (10') tall and 5m (15') wide, with arching branches and green/yellow brush flowers in summer and autumn. It does well in most areas of Australia, except for the mountains.

At the moment this plant is covered in flowers with hundreds more flower buds still to open, and Don is looking forward to a wonderful colour display in the weeks to come. This proves beyond any doubt that native plants, and especially grevilleas, flower even more prolifically when pruned regularly. However, make sure you don't prune away autumn flower buds, as native birds need nectar through the winter.
